While “oil” has become synonymous with greasy, unhealthy, and generally just bad for you notions, there has been somewhat of an oil revolution raging in the beauty industry. Beauty oil, for your face, body, and hair has survived a number of seasons proving it’s not just another passing beauty fad. Initially it may sound unpalatable to be smothering your face with oil, but carefully adding it to my beauty regime has totally changed my outlook on healthy, nourished, soft skin.
If you’re new to the entire beauty oil phenomenon the, I would highly recommend by start off with a multi purpose dry oil. What exactly is dry oil? The name in itself sounds completely perplexing, but it just means that it is a type of oil that contains very little to no water in it’s formulation. Why I recommend dry oil is because it absorbs quickly into your skin and doesn’t leave you with a oily or greasy finish that regular body oils do.
My all time favourite beauty oil is Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (Multi-Usage Dry Oil). A it’s name suggest it has multiple purposes and can be used on the face, body or for your hair. It comes in two formulations, a regular oil and an oil with a gold shimmer. Personally I prefer the shimmer oil as it contains gold flecks and gives your a subtle glow perfect for brightening your skin in the winter months, and radiant for the summer.
Nuxe oil contains an exile of plant oils (St Johns Wort, Borage, Almond, Camellia, Macadamia and Hazelnut) and Vitamin E. All the good stuff. I find it extremely nourishing for skin as well as your hair when styling and air-conditioning or heating take it’s toll.
My hair get’s styled and put through all kinds of hell on a regular basis so hair care is very important to my job. For healthy, shiny bouncy locks after shampoo and conditioning I turn to Aussie’s Mega 3 Miracle Oil. Applying it onto my damp hair before blowdrying, and then again when it’s dry never fails to leave my hair soft, shiny and nourished. I’m quite willing to say I’m obsessed with it, and though it is only the beginning of the year, this has to be my favourite new beauty product by far.
The 3 Miracle Oil’s in Aussies everyday formula are pretty similar to those in Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse. It contains Macadamia Nut Oil, Safflower seed oil and Coconut Oils. And the scent it leaves your hair with is heavenly. It has been formulated for every day use, so if your hair requires daily washing this is perfect.
With this particular oil like the dry oil, it is instantly absorbed by your hair so you don’t look like you haven’t washed your hair even after you did. Usually one pump delivers the perfect amount for your to run through your hair, however because my hair has grown and I have naturally thick hair I find four pumps more than sufficient to cover my hair from root to tip. So don’t be afraid to use a more if you need.
So there you have it! It’s not so scary right? Though beauty oil’s cam seem daunting, find the perfect ones you love and work for you can infinitely benefit your beauty regime. Though these two are my go to oil’s I always like trying something new, so if you have any recommendations you swear by leave a comment below and let me know!
